Last Update: December 22, 2024
The Away From Keyboard (AFK) Policy is a set of rules, policies, and guidelines that apply directly to AFK gameplay on the inside of SWG Utopia. We appreciate you taking the time to review this policy as their purpose is to ensure that, together, we can provide a fair and safe environment for all players.

Definition of AFK
History of AFK
Away From Keyboard (AFK) is a type of chat lingo that shows a user is stepping away from a hardware device. It was often used in chat rooms and bulletin board systems in the early days of the internet, to let people know when someone was unavailable to respond to messages.
What is a AFK Player?
This is a phrase that is used to inform other player(s) that a player is currently absent from the game or computer. A player character that is AFK, remains idle within the game environment until either the player returns, or until the character is automatically logged off the server due to inactivity.
What is Botting?
This is a very broad and vague question with many real-world applications. However, as it applies to Star Wars Galaxies, Botting is an act of managing multiple characters through the use of macros, semi-automating their participation in group content.
About Our Guidelines
These guidelines can change at sole discretion as necessary to best benefit the SWG Utopia Community and cultivate an atmosphere appropriate to the game and its gaming services. Despite our best efforts, there will always be areas that will be ultimately handled on a case-by-case basis by the Community Staff. Even when not specified, staff members have the sole right and final judgment of how, when, and where to interpret, apply, and ultimately enforce these rules, policies, and guidelines to any specific circumstance and situation, including proper punishment and discipline for any breaches.
This AFK Policy provided serves as a supplement to the Terms of Service, Community Standards Guidelines, and all other Policies and Guidelines, and apply equally to gameplay.
Farming and Grinding
To help keep SWG Utopia; a compliant, fun, fair, and safe gaming environment for everyone, we have set the following guidelines when it comes to participating in any form of AFK Gameplay.
Character Limitations
On SWG Utopia we ONLY ALLOW the use of three (3) characters in a combat setting. What this means is that, when farming any one location, you may only use three (3) characters, which means, your main and two alternatives (ALTS). However, you are advised to give up a spot a bot character occupies in favor of a main character so that someone isn't excluded for petty and/or selfish reasons.
Group Macro's
ALL Combat AFK Farming and Grinding groups are now required to have an invitation and/or join macro running. This is to ensure that every player has the opportunity to join, regardless of location. This is regardless of whether the location is a quest area or not.
IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE GROUP LEADER TO ENSURE THAT THERE IS A MACRO RUNNING, AND THUS, RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY AND ALL CONSEQUENCES.
AFK Farming or Grinding within the Death Watch Bunker is heavily restricted. One (1) single group may farm in one (1) single room. However, no player under any circumstances whatsoever is permitted to prevent other players from progressing and may not farm more than one area. Any use of Pet Pulling outside of that single room is strictly prohibited. Hallways are not considered rooms and are therefore prohibited from being farmed and/or camped.
BLOCKING ACCESS TO THE KEY(S), OVERLORD, ARMOR CRAFTING, HALLWAY(S), OR ANY ROOM(S) WILL BE STRICTLY ENFORCED!
Geonosian Caves
AFK Farming the Acklay, Reek, or Nexu within the Geo Caves is expressly prohibited, with no circumstances or exceptions.
ANY AND ALL PLAYER(S) FOUND IN BREACH, WILL BE IMMEDIATELY REMOVED FROM AREA!
Heroic Instances
Heroic Instances are the one and only exception where we will allow the use of four (4) characters, which means your main and the use of two (2) bot characters.
World Bosses
AFK Farming or Using More than Three (3) Characters to Solo World Bosses under any circumstances is not only prohibited, it is also using the World Boss System in a way that was not intended by staff, by definition, an exploit.
Dxun Content Areas
As Dxun is designated as part of End-Game Content, WE WILL NOT ALLOW Any and All Camping, whether AFK or Not, whether a Quest Area or Not. There is no exception to this policy. Offenses are as follows:
- First Offense: Warning.
- Second Offense: Removal from Area.
- Third Offense: Three Day Suspension and Account Infractions.
